Retired IIT, NIT professors to mentor AICTE colleges

After trying different ways to improve the quality of technical education, the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) is now inviting retired and serving professors from IITs, NITs to mentor the faculty of various institutes that do not have accreditation from National Board of Accreditation (NBA). This decision has been taken to prevent the shutting down of institutes that may not get accredited by NBA.

All India Council of Technical Education's (AICTE) decision to include the students' feedback to assess the teachers has been introduced to improve the educational quality of engineering colleges. But, its effectiveness remains to be seen. "Since students' feedback will be considered while granting promotion to the teachers, they will have to put their best foot forward in the classroom. This assessment pattern is followed by the IITs and NITs," says AICTE chairman Anil Sahasrabudhe.

Degree and professional courses curriculum to be more flexible

HYDERABAD: Starting from the forthcoming academic year, the Telangana collegiate and technical education department is set to introduce a list of subjects and combinations to make the curriculum more versatile.
